Lorena Helen Henry Schirmer, a long time resident of Albuquerque, passed away on March 5, 2010 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She turned 81 on January 14, 2010. She is survived by her brothers, Joseph and sister-in-law Margaret Henry, and Jim and sister-in-law Elona Henry of Florida; daughter Lorena (Lori) Alexander and her granddaughters Vanessa and Stephanie Alexander, and Melissa and grandson-in-law Nick Dougherty of Albuquerque; her son David Schirmer and daughter-in-law Lana; her grandchildren Michael, James, and Chelsea Schirmer of Las Cruces. She was a graduate of Florida State University, and worked with the Health and Social Services in Grants and Albuquerque until she retired. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Fred Schirmer, her sister Jaclyn Henry Wells, her daughter Catherine Patricia Schirmer Horner, and her grandson Christopher Robert Horner. She always helped those in need and opened her door to every critter her children ever brought home. Arrangements have been made with the Getz Funeral Home in Las Cruces.
