Clinton D. Parker passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2010 due to a massive stroke at the age of 78. Born in New Rochelle, NY, he was the son of Roswell Clinton Parker and Elta Davidson Parker. After graduation from high school, doctors recommended he move out west for college to help ease his asthma. Asthma also prevented him from serving in the military. Clinton attended UNM, where he received a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 1955. From that time on he was a Lobo fanatic. Especially fond of football, he held season tickets for fifty years. After college, Clinton worked at ACF Industries as a machinist and an expediter. Later he worked many years at Albuquerque Federal Savings and Loan where he was a Business Administrator and Purchasing Manager. A member of First Presbyterian Church, Clinton met his wife of nearly 47 years, Joan Humphrey, at Questers, a singles mixer at the Church. They were married in August of 1963. They were blessed with three sons and five grandchildren. Clinton was very active in the community. A 40 year member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club, Clinton cheerfully worked on pancake breakfasts, balloon fiestas, and other civic projects. He was a ruling elder and deacon at First Presbyterian Church, and he also belonged to Senior League and two TGIF Fellowship groups. He was a long-time volunteer bookkeeper at Martineztown House of Neighborly Services. Clinton helped support the UNM alumni association and the New Mexico Symphony. After retirement he enjoyed taking history and current events classes at Oasis. He was also a 10 year member of Healthplex gym. He and his wife Joan loved to travel and visited all 50 states as wells as 27 foreign countries. Clinton loved classical music, airplanes, and Corvettes. Clinton is survived by his wife Joan; his three sons, Andrew and wife Yvette, Todd, Russell, and wife Jodi; his brother Richard and wife Ann; his sister Mrs. Stan Gardner (Polly); sister-in-law Mary Hunt and husband Charles; his five grandchildren, Cameron, Clinton, Joshua, Jillian, and Kayson; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Memorial Services were held on Friday, March 26, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust NE, 87102.
