Obituary for LUCERO

Josephine Lucero, born July 3, 1930 in Rowe, NM died after a short illness on Friday, March 19, 2010. She was one of eight children born to Adelaido and Rose McElroy Herrera. Josephine was preceded in death in 2007 by her husband of 58 years, Tony O. Lucero; and by a baby son Thomas Michael Lucero in 1952. She is survived by her son Tony O. Lucero, Jr.; and daughter Patricia Roybal and their spouses Deedra and Robert. She leaves three beloved sisters, Celina Mullins, Emma Maes and husband Juan, and Mary Alice Tarin. As the family matriarch, she was the very proud grandmother of Jennifer Wiggins and husband Brian, Tre Lucero, Travis Lucero and wife Jessica, Carlos Trujillo and Robert Roybal, Jr.; great granchildren Angelica and David Sanchez, Sage and Alexyss Wiggins, Lily Lucero and Ashlynne Lucero, Vanessa and Alaina Trujillo. She cherished her numerous brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; and Godchildren, the latest of whom begin a fourth generation. Josephine provided a wonderful home for her family filled with love and the aroma of the best tortillas, "pretty beans" and chile in NM. She was employed for many years at Simon's Western Wear, Sears (downtown) and Cook's Sporting Goods. She retired from the State of NM Child Support Enforcement Division where she brought many a deadbeat dad to his knees. Her family is honoring her request that there be no services "whatsoever".
