Obituary for CAMPBELL

Matilda "Lee" Chiody Campbell, beloved wife, sister, mother and grandmother was born in Niles, Ohio February 20, 1922. A young 88 year old, she passed away Thursday, March 25, 2010. Lee is survived by her sister, Evelyn Menaldi, of Youngstown, Ohio; her children Jeffrey and wife, Toni, and Gary and wife, Barbara; grandchildren, Jason, Dominick, Gregory, Angela, Aimee, Gina and Kari; 10 great grandchildren; seven nieces; seven nephews; and other family and friends who loved her and will miss her. Lee was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Rose Chiody, of Youngstown, Ohio; her husband of 60 years, Ralph Campbell; two dear sisters, Pearl Martin and Adeline Matteo; and adopted brother, Carmen Basile. Lee was a legal secretary and court reporter for many years. For the last half of her career, Lee worked for Dr. Richard Tonigan at the Educational Planning and Development Dept. at UNM, then UNM Mental Health Center for Dr. Sterling. Lee retired from UNM in 1983. She then worked for her sons in their various business pursuits. Lee was lively and full of spirit, with a generous heart. She loved to play golf and cards. Lee was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. Lee will be truly missed. Her family wishes to graciously thank Presbyterian Hospice and Home Instead Caregivers. A Viewing and Services will be held at Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th N.W. The Viewing will take place on Friday, March 26, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Lee will be transported to Canfield, Ohio, to Greenhaven Memorial Gardens for final Interment.
