Obituary for PADILLA

Leo J. Padilla, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, born on August 7, 1922, passed away March 9, 2010. Mr. Padilla was a very proud US Army Veteran. He served during World War II and was a survivor of the Bataan Death March. He was held as a Prisoner of War for over three years. Mr. Padilla is survived by his seven children, Leon and Frances Padilla, Rose Blum, Chris and Greg Nunez, Larry and Yvonne Padilla, Leona Luna, Patty and Arnie Mancha, and Steven and Juliana Padilla; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, William Padilla and Solomon Padilla Jr.; sister, Marylou Gomez; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mr. Padilla will be held on Sunday, March 14, 2010 from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 3:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary. A Reception will follow the Rosary on Sunday afternoon at the Wells Park Community Center, 500 Mountain Rd. NW. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 15, 2010 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church where the Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. Committal Service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Angelina Mancha, Ariel Mancha, Nicole Gallegos, Julie Blum, Jennifer Blum, Alethia Garcia, Marlene Sanchez, Lydia Ramirez, Cynthia Loya, Krista Sisneros, and Kristy (Punkie) Paiz.
