Obituary for BARTLETT

MSgt. Carl A. Bartlett, US Air Force, Retired, died March 5, 2010, following a brief illness. Carl was born August 19, 1928, to Jay and Anna Bartlett, in McCloud, MN. He joined the US Armed Forces as a teenager, served in Korea, and was a weapons specialist for most of his Armed Forces career. After 20 years of military service, Carl earned a Master's degree in Special Education at Adams State College in Alamosa, CO. He then taught at Bureau of Indian Affairs boarding schools in the Gallup, NM, area and public schools in the Grants and Los Lunas areas. Upon retiring from Civil Service in 1980, he and his wife Lucy moved to Albuquerque. Carl was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose first love was his family. He was an avid gardener and had a great affinity for books, history, and classical music. He appreciated the great outdoors and spent many summers camping and fishing with friends and family in his younger years. Carl was preceded in death by his parents Jay and Anna and his siblings Lloyd, Donovan, Donna, and Gladys. He is survived by Lucy, his wife of 54 years; his children Charlotte Bartlett of Albuquerque, Catherine Bartlett of Bloomington, IN, Carol Bartlett of Gallup, NM, Cheryl Bartlett of Albuquerque, and Camille Hoy and husband David of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren Jonathon Bartlett of Rio Rancho, NM, Andrea Davis and husband Matt of Gallup, NM, Matthew Howard of Gallup, NM, and Michael and Nathan Hoy of Amarillo, TX; great-grandchildren Talan and Payton Davis of Gallup, NM; his brother Francis Bartlett and wife MariAnn of Alexandria, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may visit Wednesday, March 10, 2010 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at French Mortuary Eubank/Lomas location.
