Lucia Ester Lopez, age 96, a life-long resident of Pueblitos, NM, peacefully passed away in her sleep surrounded by her family and friends on Monday, March 1, 2010. Lucia was a family caretaker, an excellent seamstress and cook. She was the family historian and an avid reader. She was preceded in death by her parents, Estevan and Aurelia (Marquez) Lopez; five brothers, Benito, Manuel, Filimon and wife, Emma, Eduardo "Lalo" and Lute "Eluterio" Lopez; two sisters, Amalia Martinez and husband, Jesus and Adelina Lugarda Martinez and husband, Sam; and sister-in-law, Diana "Speedy" Lopez. Lucia is survived by her two loving brothers, Espiridion "Pete" Lopez of Los Angeles, CA and Estanislado "Tane" Lopez of Pueblitos; two sisters, Onecima Duran and husband, Frank of Phoenix, AZ and Emilia Baca and husband, Odelio of Adelino, NM; special niece whom she reared, Margaret Douglas and husband, Dave of Ft. Branch, IN; and three sisters-in-law, Rita Lopez and Paulette Lopez both of Albuquerque and Sessie Lopez of Belen. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Gene and Virgie Chavez, the staff at Belen Meadows and Sandia Hospice for all the care, support and courtesies. A viewing will be held at San Isidro Mission in Pueblitos, on Friday, March 5, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gene and Virgie Chavez, Lucy and Celso Armijo, J.R. and Stella Chavez, Ida Francis, Jonnie Otero, Sisto and Laura Baca, Trina Sanchez, Dolores Moser and Frank Otero.
