Obituary for SEERY

David William Seery, 62, passed away peacefully at his home near La Joya, New Mexico on Friday, February 5, 2010. He is survived by his wife and friend Carol; two sons, Chris and Scott; two daughters-in-law, Joy and Keavy; four grandchildren, Taylor, Cody, Samantha (Mandy) and Ryan; two sisters, Margaret Snow of Carlsbad, New Mexico and Marilyn Beal of Denver, Colorado; his brother and wife, Al and Josephine Seery of Bosque Farms, New Mexico; aunt, Georgia Seery of Socorro, New Mexico; brother-in-law and good friend, Bruce L. Anderson of Silver City, New Mexico; and numerous loving cousins, nieces and nephews. Dave was a graduate of New Mexico State University and spent a full career as a Wildlife Biologist for the Soil Conservation Service (SCS), now referred to as Natural Resources and Conservation Service (NRCS). In his retirement, he volunteered with stream reparation work for the NM Riparian Council. He served as an Airman First Class in the New Mexico Air National Guard and was a Vietnam War Veteran. He held memberships in The Wildlife Society, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Rickshaws Motor Club and Route 66 Rodders. His passion and love of life was evident in his dedication to caring for and enjoying family, working with wildlife, fly-fishing, hunting, playing music, writing books on family genealogy and sailing as well as writing hunting articles for various magazines, traveling, and participating in car shows with family and friends. Graveside services will be held at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, 924 Menaul Blvd., NE, Albuquerque, NM on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Legacy@rmef.org.
