Obituary for YOUNGBLOOD

Artie A. Youngblood, 92, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, February 01, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ruby; daughters, Norma Visage and Linda Hart; sons, Duane Raught and wife, Rutha, Gene Youngblood, Wesley Youngblood, and Don Youngblood; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and sons, Sam, Dean, and Howard. Artie was born November 1, 1917 in Jay, OK. He was a decorated soldier while serving in the United States Army during WWII. His unit, the 146th Combat Engineers landed on Normandy Beach at H Hour on D-Day. He also served in the Battle of the Bulge. Artie was a Purple Heart recipient among many other medals. He was a master carpenter and construction foreman. Artie and Ruby loved to fish, enjoyed the outdoors, and spent time together in their vegetable garden. Services will be held Saturday, February 6, 2010, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE.
