Sarah Jane Hubbard, 86 a resident of Albuquerque New Mexico since April 1961, died Saturday January 30, 2010. The widow of Ret. Col. Raymond M. Hubbard USAF, Jane Hubbard is survived by her only daughter Stephanie Lynn Carter of Albuquerque; grandchild Barney W. Carter Jr. and wife Robin Carter; great grandchildren Noah Carter and Ethan Carter also of Albuquerque. Sarah Jane Hubbard throughout life was known for her devotion to her family. Mrs. Hubbard was a faithful military spouse of 57 years and she enjoyed her posts in Newfoundland, England and various stations across the United States. Mrs. Hubbard was known for her ardent volunteerism as she amassed a combined 30 years of service with both Sandia Base hospital and Manzano Base family services. As the wife of a former Manzano base commander, Mrs. Hubbard was a member of the base church and of the Officers club. Jane, as friends knew her, could routinely be found caring for the needs of others in ways that only they could understand and appreciate. Jane's calling was absolutely and wholeheartedly that of a caretaker. Sarah Jane Hubbard will always be remembered fondly in the hearts of those who came to know her and will be revered as a woman of selfless devotion, integrity and immense love for her family. Services will be held Friday, February 5, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at French Mortuary Lomas Chapel with pastor Donaho officiating. A reception will follow at the residence of Stephanie Carter.
