FRANCES SANDOVAL VALDEZ Passed away at home January 29, 2010. She was preceded in death by her father, Bonifacio Sandoval; her mother, Mercedes Lujan; sister, Louise Sandoval; brothers, Joseph Sandoval and Santiago Sandoval; nephews, Phillip Sandoval and Larry Mares. She is survived by her husband, Bernie D. Valdez; her son, Bernard P. Valdez; brother, Bonifacio (Beatrice) Sandoval; sister-in-law, Mary Naranjo; nieces: Bonnie Bea Gibbons (Richard), Julie Roybal (Jimmy), Christine Sandoval, Jean Mary Burt (Dave), Linda Sandoval, Roberta Marquez (Gilbert), Marline Medrano (Robert), Janet Romero (Chris) and Nancy Cravens (Todd); nephews: Joseph L. Sandoval (Delfina), Victor Sandoval (Karen), Denis Mares (Adela), Mark Mares (Pauline), Brian Mares, Ronnie Valdez, Leroy Valdez (Yvonne) and Jason Naranjo (Cindy); and her daughter in spirit, Hollie Tanabe; numerous other relatives and friends. She married Bernie D. Valdez in Santa Fe, NM on November 11, 1961. She was a graduate of Loretto Academy and was a thirty year member of the Catholic Daughters as the first elected regent of the Saint Elizabeth Court. She was also a thirty year volunteer for the St. John's Soup Kitchen. She belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was past president of the Womens Auxiliary. She also belonged to the fraternal order of the Eagles, and was a former Chaplain of REAC of Eagles Club. Frances held positions as: a Candy Clerk for Taicherts Five and Dime; a clerk for the Welfare Department; an item processor for First National Bank of Santa Fe; office clerk for Selective Service; Account Supervisor for the Bureau of Land management, information specialist and land law examiner for BLM from 1955 to 1981. She loved dancing, bowling, fishing, camping and having lunch with the Birthday group. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Carmelite Monastery or St. Johns Soup Kitchen. A Visitation will be held at St. John Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. A Mass will be celebrated at St. John Catholic Church on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. with interment to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. A reception will be held at the St. John's Parish Hall at 1:30 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Berardinelli Family Funeral Service 1399 Luisa Street Santa Fe, NM 87505 (505) 984-8600
