Barbara Ruth Jenne Murray, age 80, passed away on January 4, 2010. Barbara is survived by her former husband, Dr. R. Richard Murray; two daughters, Jane Elizabeth Murray Keeling, and Judy (Jem) Ellen Murray. and a son, Stephen Richard Murray, wife, Audra; eleven grandchildren, Allison, Brian, Gavin and Jaden Keeling; Joshua, Shaina and Kaela Costley; Tamara Murray Leyba, and Tadd, Denali, and Adam Murray; and three great-grandchildren, Logan Keeling, Isabel Miranda, and Gabrielle Ann Keeling. Barbara was born July 1, 1929 in Ithaca, New York. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Ithaca College, and a Degree in Piano Performance as an Accompanist from the University of New Mexico (the first such degree awarded by UNM). Since coming to New Mexico in 1972, she has been continually active in music and musical theater at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque Civic Light Opera Assn., Albuquerque Little Theater, Music Theater Southwest, as well as many other theater companies, accompanist for private recitals, and at Central United Methodist church where she was employed for 23 years. Barbara's family prefers any memorial contributions in lieu of flowers are sent in honor of Barbara Murray to a U.N.M. Scholorship for students in musical theater.
