Obituary for RICHARDSON

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday January 10, 2010

Jessica F. Richardson passed away November 13, 2009 after a long illness. Jessica was born August 27, 1942 in Bridgeport, CT. She subsequently moved, with her parents, Lillian and Angus Cleveland to New Milford, CT. Jessica grew up in New Milford where she was active in many activities especially as member of St John's Episcopal Church. She loved to sing and her voice added depth and beauty to the choir for many years. She graduated from New Milford High School in 1961 and went to work for Greene Electric Company in nearby Danbury CT. In 1965 she married John Richardson also of New Milford. Shortly after their wedding, Jessica and John left New Milford for Craig Air Force Base in Selma AL where John entered the USAF for pilot training. For the next 20 years, John and Jessica traveled extensively in the United States and in Europe. They finally settled in Southern California where they lived until 2006. That is when Jessica and John moved to Medford, OR. Jessica worked for many years as a secretary and office manager for a variety of firms including several years as the West Coast office manager for MIT Lincoln Laboratories. In this position she was involved in several projects on the cutting edge of new technology in aerospace. Jessica also worked for TRW in Albuquerque NM while John was employed there as a contractor at Kirtland AFB from 1993 to 1997. Throughout her life, Jessica charmed people with her sunny, fun-loving personality. She was happy to start a conversation with total strangers in a store, restaurant or airport and before they separated Jessica had made a new friend. After his retirement from the Air Force, John took a job which allowed both he and Jessica to travel throughout the world. For the past fifteen years they have visited Asia, Africa, Australia, and Europe. This allowed Jessica to indulge in her two favorite things, travelling to new places and shopping. Jessica was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and St Mark's Episcopal Church in Medford. She is survived by her husband John and son Chris. Services will be held at St Mark's Episcopal Church in Medford on January 15, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Eagle Point National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society.
