Alex A., Jr., 76, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne of 52 years; daughter, Lisa and husband, Tim; daughter, Lucinda; and son, Alex III and wife, Anita. Nine grandchildren, Justin, Matthew, Alex, Samantha, Alexis, Alyssa, Christopher, Addy and Avari. He was preceded in death by his son, Adrian and daughter, Stephanie. He was born in Socorro, NM to Remedios and Alex Abeyta Sr. on January 30, 1933. He graduated from Deming High School where he excelled in many sports. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in the Canal Zone at Albrook Air Force Base. He was a Bi-Lingual air traffic controller and instructor and was honorably discharged in 1959. He then enrolled at New Mexico Western College where he earned his Bachelor Degree. He continued his education at the University of Wyoming where he earned his Juris Doctor. He returned to Albuquerque where he started a successful family business with his lifelong friend and business partner Gordon Bernell. He was Bernalillo County Manager for 10 yrs., Bernalillo County Treasurer for four yr. term, and Deputy Treasurer for three yrs. He was currently working for the NM Governors Commission on Disability. He was loved and respected by many, many people and will be dearly missed. A viewing will be held at 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. before the Rosary. Rosary will be recited Mon. January 4, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass will be celebrated Tuesday 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Risen Savior, 7701 Wyoming NE. 505-821-1571.
