Obituary for NELSON

Reverend Charles B. Nelson, 77, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at home very peacefully after a long illness of Parkinson Disease. He was born January 29, 1932. Charles was preceded in death by daughter, Donna Sue; sister, Frances Wilson; and brother, Arnold Nelson. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn Nelson; sisters, Nancy Lee and husband, Dan Lee and Juanita Young; three sons, Calem, Douglas, and Mark; four daughters, Dianna Johnson and husband, Ernie, Deborah Mares and husband, Roland, Patricia Young, Regina Chavez and husband Juan Rodriguez; ten grandchildren, Charity, Jennifer, Shanna, Charles, Jenny, Michelle, Katrina, Twana, Stephanie, and Laura; 18 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Gabriel, Alexzandra, Letycia, Ambrose, Estrella, Gabriella, Layla, Mikayla, Jodecy, Ashley, DeAnna, Daylin, Miguel, Josiah, Arianna, Isaiah, and Michael; and numerous nieces and nephews. Charles was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He worked as a baker at Griffins Bakery in Bluefield, WV and later worked at Jills Bakery in Albuquerque. Charles later had his own business in landscaping and security. He retired 14 years ago. Services will be held Saturday, December 26, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Pallbearers will be Calem Nelson, Douglas Nelson, Mark Nelson, Charles J. Nelson, Ernie Johnson, Roland Mares, and Juan Rodriguez. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menual Blvd. NE.
