Ross Andrew McCallister, Sr., age 77, born in Oklahoma City, OK, on April 19, 1932, passed away at his North Valley home on Saturday, December 19, 2009, supported by his loving wife of 57 years, Nancy Ann McCulloch McCallister; his eight loving children, Ross Andrew, Jr., and wife, Patty, Chris, Rosie Walters, Mike and wife, Sandy, Patrick and wife, Tammy, Danny and wife, Joann, Frank and wife, Jill, and Tim and wife, Maria; 23 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including grandson, Christopher Ross who he joins in heaven. He is also survived by his brother, Orville C. McCallister, Jr. and wife, Judy and their family. Ross was preceded in death by his mother and father, Fern and O.C. McCallister, Sr. Ross was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Albuquerque, NM. He was a beloved husband, father and Papa and served proudly in the Korean War as a member of the United States Navy. A disabled veteran, Ross was so thankful for the care he received by the wonderful staff at the Veteran's Hospital in Albuquerque. In addition, the family is extremely thankful for the blessings of the Hospice caregivers supporting us. Ross retired from a career as an automobile dealer, a passion he inherited from his Dad, the first Studebaker dealer in Albuquerque. A visitation will be held at the San Felipe De Neri Catholic Church in Old Town, 2005 N. Plaza St, NW in Albuquerque, on Wednesday, December 23, at 9:30 a.m. with a Memorial Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Ennichement will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd. NE, in Albuquerque. The family requests that donations be made in Ross's name to the VA Medical Center, 1501 San Pedro Dr. SE, Albuquerque, NM, 87108.
