Obituary for DOMINGUEZ

Zelma Dominguez, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, died Sunday, December 13, 2009. She is survived by her son, Lee Robert Dominguez of Rio Rancho, NM; and Leanna Sauceda who was like a daughter to Zelma; and numerous other relatives and friends. Zelma was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Dominguez in 2006; daughter-in-law, Deborah Lynn Dominguez in 2005; and mother, Esther Ortiz. She was born on April 2, 1927 in Raton, NM where she graduated from Raton High in 1945. Zelma worked as a Deputy Clerk in the Office of the Colfax County Clerk before moving to Albuquerque where she worked as a bookkeeper at a furniture store for ten years and then another 17 years in general accounting. She was Past President of Zia Chapter, American Business Women's Association whose main purpose was raising money to fund scholarships for young women. Zelma was also an avid bowler in both scratch and handicap leagues. She was a season ticket holder for many years at the Musical Theater Southwest and a loyal season ticket holder of UNM Lobo basketball and football games. Zelma loved her flower garden and keeping the yard looking nice. She was a loving mother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Services will be held at the Chester T.
