Obituary for BARRERAS

Candelario (Kandy) Barreras, 98, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on December 15, 2009 with his loving family at his side. Mr. Barreras is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-two years, Mrs. Rose Barreras; his daughter, Patricia (Pat) Barreras-Escobedo and husband, Ramiro; his grandchildren, Bill Hawkins and wife, Karen, Katherine Bailey and husband, James, and Ken Crooks; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews cousins and friends. Mr. Barreras was preceded in death by his parents and many brothers and sisters. Mr. Barreras was a member of the Catholic Church, a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during WWII; was a life member of VFW Post 401, American Legion Post 99; and was owner/operator of Kandy's Supermarket in Barelas and owner/operator of Village Laundry Mat in Los Lunas. Visitation will be Sunday, December 20, 2009 from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at San Felipe de Neri Catholic, 2005 Plaza NW with a Rosary to be recited at 3:00 p.m. by Father Dennis Garcia. Final visitation will be Monday at the Church from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Father Dennis Garcia, presider. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Hawkins, Ken Crooks, James Bailey, Ed Cortez, Ernest Torres, and Melito Marino.
