Obituary for NEWMAN

Dorothy Evelyn Newman, 83, of Albuquerque passed away at home with her family by her side on Wednesday December 2, 2009. She is survived by her sons, Kenneth and wife Marra, Richard, Gordon and wife Kimberly and Jeff; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Corey, Christy, Sarah and Melanie Parsons and husband Dave; great - grandchildren, Rebbecca, Hayden and Brennan; Jeffrey's mother Susan Companion; brother, Clyde Compton and wife Maria; brother's - in- law, Vincent Newman and his wife Betty and Floyd Lewis, and sister-in-law, Elsie Screnoch. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Edward Joseph Newman. Dorothy retired from the UNM School of Medicine after many years of service. During her life she enjoyed playing cards, and had many friends in the card playing community. Dorothy had an amazing will to live even while tackling her extreme medical problems. A memorial service will be held at French Mortuary, Lomas location, on Friday, December 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. where friends will be invited to share memories. Guests are invited to stay for a reception following the memorial. Dorothy will be laid to rest with her husband at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
