Obituary for HOUSTON

James Allan Houston, a resident of Charlotte, NC, passed away on December 1, 2009. He was born January 15, 1935 in Cimarron, NM. His parents, Ben and Bonnie Houston precede him in death. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; sons, James Spencer; Mace Allan; grandchildren, Sam; Andy; Kendall; Allison; and brother, Vernon Houston and wife Betty. After graduation from NMIMT, Allan worked a short time for Honolulu Oil Co. and later joined the wallboard industry. He worked for US Gypsum before affiliating with National Gypsum. He served as plant manager for several National Gypsum plants before becoming a director in the company. He retired and then later he became a consulting engineer in the construction of wallboard plants around the globe in many foreign countries. Allan was an avid golfer, a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed. Services will be at the Providence Methodist Church in Charlotte on Saturday, December 4, 2009, at 4:00 p.m..
