Orlando S. Alires. God's loving arms are now holding our dearly loved husband, father, pompo, brother, uncle and friend, Orlando S. Alires, who went home on Thursday, December 3, 2009. He was born on June 1, 1954 and was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque. His parents, Jimmy and Rafaela Alires, have predeceased him. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 18 years, Theresa; daughters, Monica Gallegos, Lisa Gutierrez and husband, Clarence; son, Gabriel Alires; grandchildren, Gabriel, Mariah, Marissa and Alexis; sisters, Dolores Alires, and Lorraine Garcia and husband, David; brothers, Ralph Alires and wife, Geraldine, Joe Alires and wife, Gina; mother-in-law, Estella M. Solano; along with the members of his extended in-law family; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His career as an electrician earned him highest regard for his work ethic and professionalism. An avid fisherman, he most enjoyed fishing in the Jemez. He possessed a passion for helping people, and his jovial wit and humor won him many friends. He had a true quality for making new friends wherever life took him. He was called upon by many people for repairs and always had the knack and ability to do so. He lived simply, loved generously, cared deeply, spoke kindly and left the rest to God, whom he served with a loyal heart and willing mind. A Christian service will be held Wednesday, December 9, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Chapel of Albuquerque, 4001 Osuna Rd NE. His good friends, Shad Rockwell and Mike Ortiz have been named as honorary pallbearers.
