Obituary for BARNES

Lloyd Barnes, age 80, a resident of Belen, was called home to our Lord and Savior after a short illness on Thursday, November 12, 2009. He was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Lloyd was a devoted Christian man. He graduated from Abilene Christian High in Abilene, Texas and received his degree from St. Joseph College and worked at Sandia Laboratories. Lloyd served four years in the US Air Force, during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in French Morocco. He worked thirty-five years for Sandia Labs and retired in1985. Lloyd was also very active with the Telephone Pioneers and enjoyed many camping trips with them. He enjoyed singing, which he began at a young age with The French Boys Choir and he also sang in the United Methodist Church Choir. Lloyd was preceded in death by his mother, Peryl Gibbons; and step-father, Bowers Gibbons; and father, Errett Barnes. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Wanda L. Barnes; children, Charles L. Barnes and his wife Cindy, Mark Barnes and Elaine Barnes; grandchildren, Sarah E. Barnes, Raena-Marie L. Wallace and her husband Dustin, Kymberly Daylynn Palm, Austin G. Barnes and Addison L. Barnes; great-grandchildren, Aleana M. Wallace, Dustin Blake Wallace and Carina L. Wallace; sisters Rebecca Allen and her husband Sterling of Sebring, FL and Moynelle (Mickey) Landon of Albuquerque. Services are to be held at First United Methodist Church, located on Manzano Expressway in Rio Communities on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at 11:00 a.m., the family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the New Mexico Boys Ranch, 6209 Hendrix Rd, NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
