Obituary for YEAGER

James B. "Jim" Yeager died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, October 24, 2009, at Good Samartian Village Monzano del Sol Nursing Home where he had lived for the last 16 months. Jim was born in Barberton, OH on December 28, 1916 and moved to Albuquerque in 1920. As a lifelong resident he was graduated from Albuquerque High School and attended the University of New Mexico. He worked for 16 years for the Santa Fe Railroad and was Building Engineer for the Simms Building and Bank of New Mexico Building when newly built. He retired in 1985 after years of dedicated service. Jim was active in the Scouts and was a longtime active member of Temple Lodge Number 6 AF&AM, serving as Grand Master in 1967. As a sixty plus year devoted member of First United Methodist Church, he was active in the Grace Noon-Time Meal Ministry and many other volunteer activities. A devoted husband and dedicated Father and Grandfather, his giving spirit survives in the hearts of his wife of 70 years, Virginia Yeager; his sons, Steve Yeager and Gary Yeager and wife, Glenda Yeager; grandchildren, Stephanie Yeager and Eric Yeager and wife, Heidi Yeager; great-grandson, Jase Yeager; his brother, Frederick Yeager and wife, Jean and their children, Frederick and Kathy; devoted niece, Yvonne Neau and her husband, Gene Neau; and numerous extended family. A service to celebrate Jim's life will be held Sunday, November 1, 2009, at 1:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, 314 Lead SW. For those so moved, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in Jim's memory to the Grace Meal Ministry at First United Methodist Church, 314 Lead SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
