Obituary for WONG

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Friday October 30, 2009

Bunny Marie Wong was born on November 29, 1975--a sunny California baby. She grew up in New Mexico, ran cross-country at Cibola High and spoke at graduation. Afterwards Bunny left for Washington & Lee University in Virginia, joining a sorority and working at both the college and town newspapers. She graduated with honors in English and journalism. She studied a year at University College in Oxford. Afterwards Bunny returned to England for a Master's in medieval studies at Royal Holloway College. After graduation Bunny began working in Santa Fe, NM. However, a year later her company moved to San Francisco, offering her a position on the West Coast. With Bunny-style gumption, she declined the offer and moved--jobless--to New York City. She began as a fact-checker with Martha Stewart Living and eventually became a senior editor at Budget Living. She navigated the competitive world of freelance writing, working for several different magazines over the past few years. Bunny was very beloved by her parents, Stanley and Lina Wong, and her younger sisters and brothers: Rebi, Maryann, Cosette, Luther, and Gunther; she always took care of them. Many people in many places cherished Bunny and will miss her very much. A memorial service will be held , Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. at Charity Baptist Church, 5501 Obregon Road, Rio Rancho.
