Obituary for O'KEEFFE

Michael E. O'Keeffe, 77, died on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009 at Presbyterian Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons Michael, Timothy and Terrence; grandchildren Patrick, Cara, Brendan, Aidan and Vivianna; and sisters Joan, May and Jane. Michael was born in New York City on March 3, 1932. He served in the Army during the Korean War and earned a Bachelor Degree from Iona College. Michael worked for many years as a salesman and a college recruiter. He loved to tell stories about his childhood in the Bronx and his adventures in Korea. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and sports. He always rooted for the underdog and never forgave the Dodgers for leaving Brooklyn. Michael worked tirelessly for numerous charities throughout his life and he was active in the Knights of Columbus. He was a loving father and husband and will be missed by all who knew him. Friends may visit on Friday, October 30, 2009 from 2:00- 5:00 p.m. at French ~ Wyoming Chapel. A wake service will be held on Friday October 30, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at French-Wyoming Chapel. A funeral mass will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Community on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 2, 2009 at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
