Obituary for SHATTUCK

Judith "Judy" J. (Civerolo) Shattuck, 67 of Friendswood, Texas peacefully passed away in her sleep on Friday, September 18, 2009 while at home with her husband, Vern, after a heroic ten year battle with illnesses. She was born June 7, 1942 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to John Joseph Civerolo and Evelynn (Boardman) Civerolo. Judy attended St. Charles grade school and was a member of the first graduating class of 1960 at Saint Pius X High School. She excelled at St. Pius, was an honor student, four year Varsity cheerleader and the first homecoming queen at Pius. Judy was loved by all and remained loyal alumnus of St. Pius forever. Judy and Vern were married for 37 beautiful years and she was the love of his life. She had a stunning beauty, who had both an outer and inner beauty, leaving everyone who came in contact with her, never able to forget her. Judy was intelligent, had a very kind heart which was filled with generosity. She was gracious to everyone, had an excellent sense of humor, was knowledgeable about life and fun to be with, showing a spunkier side of her personality when it was warranted. Judy's presence will be greatly missed, as her spirit lives on in our hearts, leaving us her legacy of love and allowing us to feel gratitude for having been blessed enough to have her in our lives. She is preceded in death by her mother, Evelynn (Boardman) Civerolo; father, John Civerolo; father-in-law, John C. Shattuck; son, John E. Shattuck; and brother-in-law, Richard Castro Rivas. Judy is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Vern Shattuck; mother-in-law, Ruth Shattuck; daughters, Pam Sanchez, Kelly Shattuck, and Cheryl Turner; son, John Baillio; brother, John Civerolo; sister, Eve-lynn Civerolo; sister-in-law, Jeannette Civerolo; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lon and Jackie Shattuck and Steve and Karen Sayer; ten grandchildren, one great grandchild, and an array of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. The Shattuck family would like to extend a sincere thanks to her doctor team - Dr. Shearer, Dr. Rodriguez, Dr. Wilson, Dr. Henderson and Dr. Sobolevsky and their staffs for the endless hours of support and effort ya'll devoted to keeping Judy alive during these last ten years. A Celebration of Judy's Life will be held Monday, October 26, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Mary Queen Catholic Church, 606 Cedarwood Drive, Friendswood, Texas 77546. A second Celebration of Judy's life will be held Friday, October 30, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mt. Calvary Chapel, 1900 Edith Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87102. Following the celebration, Judy will be laid to rest in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, her family has established a memorial in Judy's name at St. Pius X High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The family would appreciate that donations be made in Judy's memory to the following: St. Pius X High School asks that donors simply indicate on their gift that it is in memory of Mrs. Shattuck.
