Obituary for RHEA

Harvard Max Rhea, 85, passed away October 14, 2009. He was born in Clarendon, TX on January 24, 1924, to John D. and Pricie Rhea. Max grew up on the J.A. Ranch, graduated from Clarendon High School, and attended Clarendon College and Texas Tech. He served in the Pacific in WWII as a pilot in the Army-Air Force. Max was married to Sara Lowry from 1944 to 1972 and had three children: Don Michael, Kathryn and Melissa. He drove a bus for Greyhound for 35 years. In 1976, Max married Frances Mitchell, making Albuquerque his home for the remainder of his life. He was preceded in death by brothers, Burrel Rhea and B.D. Rhea and by sister Joan Gerner. Max is survived by wife Frances of Albuquerque, sister Ramona of Amarillo, children, Don Rhea and wife Peggy of Amarillo; Kathy Bullard of Spring, Texas; and Melissa Tague of Amarillo. He is also survived by Larry Mitchell of Idaho, Mary Ann Ames and husband Richard of Georgia, and Patsy Boeglin and husband, Randy of Albuquerque. Max and Fran have 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Max was a loving husband, brother, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him. A private family service of remembrance was held on October 17, 2009 near Clarendon, Texas.
