Roberta "Berta" Tafoya Chavez, 83, born in Alameda, NM on March 13, 1926 to Severo and Petra Tafoya passed away peacefully with her family at her side on October 14, 2009 in Albuquerque, NM. Roberta was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was preceded in death by her husband Filemon Chavez; two sons Arturo and Arthur James Chavez. Berta is survived by her daughter Clydine Sosa and husband Guadalupe; daughter Anabel Chavez; daughter-in-law Susan Chavez; son Richard Chavez; daughter Phyllis Mitchell and husband Doug; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five sisters and countless other family members. The mass will be held for Berta on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 5415 Fortuna Road NW, Albuquerque, NM.
