Obituary for DEMMEL

Richard P Demmel, 86, died September 29, 2009. He is survived by his children, Theresa Lee and husband, James of Austin, TX and Phillip Demmel and wife, Theresa of Carrollton, TX; grandchildren, Terri, James, Kathy and husband David, Amie, Sarah, Elizabeth and Benjamin; great grandchildren, Jacob, Cody, Brendon and Amy; sisters, Alice and husband, Sam, and Ethel and husband, Henry; brother, John and wife, Judy; and many other family and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Myrtle, wife Virginia, and brothers, Frederick and Harold. He grew up in Raton, NM where he graduated from Raton High School, joined the U S Army where he served with the 517th Airborne during WW II. After the service, he received his Masters Degree from NM Highlands University. Mr. Demmel worked at Sandia National Labs until retiring in 1987. He was also a member of the VFW Post 49. A Rosary will be recited Sunday, 7:00 p.m., October 4, 2009 at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd NE and a service will be held Monday, October 5, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary as well. Burial will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Friends may visit French, Lomas Location, Sunday 5-7 PM.
