Obituary for LOPEZ

Eduardo "Lalo" Lopez, age 88, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, September 25, 2009. He was born in Pueblitos, NM in 1921 and was a resident of Belen, NM. Lalo was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. He proudly served his country in the US Army and was a WWII Veteran. Lalo retired from the Santa Fe Railroad after many years of outstanding service. He loved fishing and gardening, but his favorite past time was playing and taking care of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Estevan and Aurelia Marquez Lopez; brothers and sisters, Benito, Amalia and husband, Jesus Martinez, Lugarda and husband, Sam Martinez, Manuel, Filimon and wife, Emma and Eluterio; and his in-laws, Preciliano and Elena Sanchez, Tranquilino and Mary Sanchez, Erlinda Garcia and Diana "Speedy" Lopez. Lalo is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sesaria "Sessy" Sanchez Lopez and their two daughters, Eva Martinez and husband, Jerry and their children and grandchildren, Ann Marie Chavez and husband, Robert and their children, Gavin and Logan; Denee Golliheair and husband, Shannon and their children, Taylor, Bailee and Dalton; Derek Crnkovich and wife, Stephanie and son, Dylon; Renee Marquez and husband, Joe and their children, Olivia, Jeremiah and Sophia; and Dr. Carla Martinez; Elena Lopez Jones and husband, Bob and their children and grandchildren, Celena Tabet and her son, Miguel and Jeffrey Tabet; his sisters, Lucia Lopez, Onesima Duran and husband, Frank; and Emilia Baca and husband, Odelio; brothers, Pete Lopez and Estanislado "Tany" Lopez and his in-laws, Daniel and Cinda Romero, Eddy and Jenny DeAnda, and Joe and Dolores Garcia. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Ambercare and their Hospice Staff for their loving support during their dad's long illness. All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, beginning with a viewing on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. with a rosary to be recited by his sister-in-law, Dolores Garcia at 2:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held on Monday, September 28, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. with Father Stephen Schultz presiding. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Robert Chavez, Shannon Golliheair, Derek Crnkovich, Jeffrey Tabet, Clarence Lopez, Lorenzo Romero, Bruce Bergeson and Kenny Lopez.
