Obituary for ARCHULETA

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday September 27, 2009

Agnes Archuleta, 87, passed on to the loving arms of the Lord on Wednesday, September 23, 2009. Agnes was born on May 1, 1922 and was raised in Las Vegas, New Mexico. As a beautiful young woman she met, fell in love with, and married Ernest Archuleta. They had six children. As a young couple, after the war years, they moved to Albuquerque to continue raising their family. Strong minded, strong in her Catholic Faith, she taught her children to know and love the Lord, also leading and encouraging them to aspire and achieve all they could. She set high standards in all she did and taught an inspirational work ethic. After her children were raised, she continued her education. As she married so young and had not finished high school, she studied for and received her GED and went on to take college classes. There was not a household project she didn't feel able to tackle. If she decided she wanted new tile in her kitchen or bath area, she went out and bought the "how to" book and did it herself. Once again, teaching by example. She didn't know a stranger and had a smile and warm greeting for everyone. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest, one son Robert and one granddaughter Jennifer Sandy. She is survived by her children Connie Jessen and husband Larry, Phillip Archuleta and wife Viola, Loretta Bates and husband Jim, Lorraine Marks and Christine Peterson; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Lomas Location, Sunday, September 27, 2009 from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm followed by a rosary at 6:00 pm and friends and loved ones are encouraged to share their memories at that time. Pallbearers will be Kevin Fannin, Phillip Archuleta, Jr., Keith Sandy, Craig Jessen, Kim Duncan, Kathy Ellis, Stacy Jessen, Rochelle Cano-Linson, and Ashley Gutierrez. Funeral mass will be held Monday, September 28, 2009, 12:00 noon, at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix N.E. followed by a reception to celebrate Agnes' life at Glory Christian Fellowship, 2417 Wyoming Blvd. N.E.
