Obituary for FRICKS

Paul Fricks, Jr., 82, a resident of Albuquerque for 66 years, died Thursday, September 17, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marguerite; sons Thomas Fricks of Albuquerque and Charles Wayne Fricks and wife, Connie of Denver, CO; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. Paul was preceded in death by his parents Paul Sr. and Alma Baird Fricks. He was born on June 13, 1927 in Mt. Pleasant, TX. After his parents died, Paul joined the United States Navy and served proudly on the aircraft carrier, Intrepid, during WWII. He worked for Western Electric as an engineer and retired in 1982. Paul was an avid hiker and bicyclist and belonged to the Colorado Mountain Club where he climbed many mountains. He was also involved with Sankey Search and Rescue for several years. Paul loved to snow ski and hang-glide. He was also a pilot and loved to play a good game of golf. Paul was a giving and well-liked person who had a lot of friends and enjoyed being with them. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Graveside Services will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Tuesday, September 22, 2009, 2:00 p.m. with military honors.
