Obituary for STEWART

Leota Mae Stewart, born October 29, 1923 to Henry Harley and Roxie Merl Byrd in Newcastle, Texas entered the loving arms of her Lord Jesus Christ and the embrace of her husband of 61 years, Glynn Lee Stewart on September 8, 2009. Leota is survived by her children Dale Stewart of Golden Valley, Arizona; Sandra Black and husband, Lee of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Terry Stewart of Denver, Colorado. She was blessed with five grandchildren: LaNetta Bueoy and husband Jeff, Tanya Stewart, Angela Cott, Eric Black and wife Dalese and Misty Fleming and husband Bobby; along with eight great-grandchildren: Alexis Black, Mackenzie Fleming, Allen Black, Jena Joy Corral, Dalton Bueoy, Danielle Bueoy, Blake Bueoy and Bradley Cott. She is also survived by her sisters Francis Goodall of Plano, Texas, Bobbie Sherry and husband, Eugene of Bay City, Texas, Margie Blake and husband, Gene of Big Lake, Texas; and brother Preston Byrd and wife Jean of Sherman, Texas; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to being the perfect hostess for her many friends, she loved to try new recipes on very appreciative guests at her table. She was a gifted seamstress and craft maker. Her talents were sought in her service in Gideons Auxiliary, Christian Women's Club and many events in her church. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Mexico Baptist Foundation P. O. Box 16560, Albuquerque, NM 87191, with designations to benefit First Baptist Church Santa Fe, NM Baptist Children's Home and Gideons. Services will be held Thursday, September 10, 2009, 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Santa Fe, 1605 Old Pecos Trail with viewing beginning at 1:00 p.m.. Interment will take place on September 11, 2009 at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
