Mary J. Najera, 85, a resident of Albuquerque's South Valley, passed away on September 3, 2009. Mrs. Najera is survived by her daughters Caryl Copsin-Tippens and husband, James, and Barbara Najera; her brother, Archie Metzgar and wife, Agnes; her sister, Jennie Ulibarri and husband, Orlando; her grandchildren, Keith Copsin, Shannon Copsin and wife, Lauren Britowich, Tereah Otero and husband, Chris, and Jamie Tafoya; her great-grandchildren, Desiree, Christopher, Cydney, Joseph, Zyan, Xavier and Kane; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Najera was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph "Pepe" Najera; her son, Ricky; parents, Primetivo and Virginia Metzgar; and her sisters, Cecilia Metzgar and Susie Cordova. Mary was a member of the Catholic Church, a member of the Bernalillo County Democratic Women, the State of NM Democratic Women and the Legion of Mary. Visitation will be Monday, September 7, 2009 from 5:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Church of the Ascension, 2150 Raymac SW with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. by the Legion of Mary. Final visitation will be Tuesday morning at the Church from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Father Edmund Savilla, presider. Committal Service to follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Keith Copsin, Desiree Gallegos, Chris Otero Sr., Chris Otero Jr., Abie Baca and Ernie Metzgar.
