Obituary for BERNAL

Lorenzo (Lawrence) Bernal, 72, passed away on August 31, 2009 at his home in Estancia, N.M. with his wife Marian and his sister Tillie at his bedside. Lorenzo was born in Manzano, N.M. on August 9, 1937 to Guadalupe and Elena (Serna) Bernal. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years in Japan. He worked for the Rio Grande Cement Plant in Tijeras, and was also a Barber for many years and was owner of "L's" Barber Shop in Estancia. Lorenzo was a "people person" who got along with everyone he met and in return was loved by many. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Marian (Gonzales) Bernal; his daughter Yvette Bernal, from Albuquerque, N.M.; Sonya Weisbrot and her husband Steve from Dix Hills, New York; and his son Lorenzo (Guy) Bernal and his wife Bonnie from Estancia, N.M.; His four grandchildren Sophia Bernal, Jakob Bernal, Raymond Weisbrot and Eladio Bernal; His sister Tillie Selders and husband Fred from Keyser, WV; his brother Tomas Bernal from Mountainair, N.M. A special thanks to Tammy and Jessica from Hospice for the care they gave Lorenzo. A Rosary will be recited on September 2, 2009 at the St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Estancia at 7:00 p.m. by his cousin Dorothy Sandoval. Mass will be September 3, 2009at 10:00 A.M. also at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, interment will follow at the Estancia Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lorenzo Bernal, Tomas Bernal, Eloy Joe Gonzales, Steve Weisbrot, Elfego Gutierrez and Frank Gutierrez. Honorary Pallbearers - Richard Gonzales, Leeroy Bernal, Steven Bernal, George Miranda Jr. and Juan Jantz and all his many Compadres.
