Obituary for FARLEY

John William Farley. January 7, 1917 - July 2, 2009. John was born in Newark, NJ the oldest of seven children. Prior to going into the Army during World War II, he and a brother owned and operated a gas station/garage. He served in the 3rd Calvary Squadron in the automotive division as a mechanic during the War. Later he went to work for Chrysler initially working in New York and eventually was moved to Detroit as an executive in the Service Division. His job entailed traveling all over the United States and the world. His many travels resulted in a life long love of languages and he spoke Russian, Japanese, Spanish and German (Japanese and Spanish more fluently than the others), and, in fact, taught Spanish at one of the Senior Centers in Albuquerque. He had a flair for artistic endeavors demonstrated by his numerous wood carvings, stained glass objects, weavings, and picture framing. John was a true gentleman known for his kindness and integrity. He was respected by everyone who knew him. He and his wife, Virginia, were married in the early 1970s and resided in Michigan until they retired in 1983. They relocated to Albuquerque in 1983 and resided there until 2006 when they moved to Arvada, CO. His wife followed him in death on July 16, 2009. He is survived by daughters, Veronica Pelosi of New Jersey and Emma Braille; step-daughter, Gloria Jacobson (Ed) lives in Colorado; many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond (Mary) of Wisconsin and Norman (Betty) of New Jersey; and sister, Helen (Tom) of Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Bob and Vince; a sister, Veronica; his step-son, Wade Zellner; and a step-granddaughter, Jami Jacobson.
