Obituary for RAMSHAW

Jean House January 11, 1919 - July 5, 2009 Jean Ramshaw passed away after a short illness at Sun City Convalescent Home in Sun City, California. She was born in Kaufmann, TX and moved with her family to Roswell, NM, in the 1930's where she attended Roswell High School. After graduation, Jean went to Baylor University in Waco, TX and then moved to Albuquerque, NM. She made her home with her deceased husband, William G. Ramshaw, in several places in New Mexico. In 2000, she moved to Murrieta, CA. She lived at The Colony in Murrieta for six years, then in Sun City, Rancho Bernardo and Menifee, CA. Mrs. Ramshaw is survived by two daughters, Marilyn R. Brown of Menifee, CA and Jane E. Ramshaw of Rancho Bernardo, CA. Her surviving son-in-law is David W. Brown of Menifee, CA. She has a granddaughter, Amy M. Farrar of Murrieta and a grandson, Todd W. Macaluso of Vista, CA. Mrs. Ramshaw was also the proud great-grandmother of Kyle and Trevor Farrar and Brayden Macaluso. Several nieces and nephews remain in New Mexico. Jean was an avid and knowledgeable bridge player who belonged to several bridge groups in the area, as well as in New Mexico. She had been a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs in Albuquerque (Cosmopolitan Woman's Club) and in Temecula (Temecula Woman's Club.) She actively participated in charity, social and Federation activities in both clubs. Mrs. Ramshaw was also an accomplished Chinese brush painter. Most of her works remain in the family, although some were sold for charity events and at small art shows. Jean loved to travel, particularly to Hawaii, Colorado, Savannah, GA, and Mexico. She enjoyed cruising and traveling by car, reading, dancing, decorating, sewing, bird-watching (especially hummingbirds) and games of chance. Jean loved animals, especially dogs, and loved viewing flowers. Her interests and experiences made her an interesting conversationalist and a popular participant in social activities. She will be missed dearly by her family and her many friends. A Private Family Memorial will be held in California.
