Ricardo M. Gomez Jr., 55, died July 8, 2009 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Albuquerque. He was born August 30, 1953 in San Angelo, Texas. Ricky's mother passed away during the childbirth of the fourth sibling. When he and his sisters and brother were toddlers, they were taken in and raised by their maternal grandparents. Ricky enlisted in the United States Army shortly after graduating from Midland High School in 1971 in Midland, Texas. Ricky loved the outdoors; he and Loretta were avid hunters and fishermen. He was an excellent marksman. Ricky's holiday season always began with the first game of his beloved Dallas Cowboys. Ricardo is survived by his loving wife, Loretta; children, Erica Casaus and husband Gabriel, Daniel Gomez, and Ricky Gomez Watt; and six grandchildren. Ricardo is also survived by sisters, Lillie Heredia and husband Albert and Anna Gonzales and husband Mike; brother, Fred Montez and wife Alma all of Midland, TX, and other numerous relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ricardo M. Gomez, Sr. and Maria Louisa (Montez) Gomez; his maternal grandparents Bernardo F. and Anastacia C. Montez and paternal grandparents Brauvilio and Francisca Gomez. Visitation will be Sunday, July 12, 2009 from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Daniels Family Funeral Services; 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE with a Rosary to be recited Sunday, July 12, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be Monday, July 13, 2009 at 10:00 a.m., at Queen of Heaven. Interment following at Sandia Memory Gardens. Casket bearers are Albert Heredia, Jr., Mike Gonzales, Gabriel Casaus, Leonard de Lara, Jr., Peter Silva and Phillip Lucero. Honorary bearers will be Albert Heredia, Sr. and Anthony Padilla.
