Margaret T. Davis. A Funeral Service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 9, 2009, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel, for Margaret T. Davis, age 84 of Roswell, who passed away July 4, 2009. Pastor William E. Petersen of 1st United Methodist Church in Chattahoochee, Florida will officiate, with interment to follow at South Park Cemetery. Margaret was born June 7, 1925 in Greensboro, North Carolina to Tiller and Lucy Thacker. They both have preceded her in death. Margaret married Joe S. Davis on February 4, 1961 in Dallas, Texas. He has also preceded her in death. Margaret graduated in 1943 in St. Augustine, FL. She received her nursing degree from Baylor in Dallas, TX in 1947. She worked for Dr. Frank A. English from 1964 to 1974. She also worked for Eastern New Mexico Medical Center as head of recovery room from 1976 to 1992. She received the ENMMC Nurse of the year award in 1989. Margaret was active for many years in the New Mexico Nurse's Association, district 5 as president from 1986-88 and secretary from 1983-85 and 1991-93. She was also a charter member of the American Society of Post Anesthesia Nurses. She sat on the board of directors of the association from 1980-86, served as secretary for the board from 1986-87 and was a member of the Legislative Committee from 1989-90. Margaret was listed in several "Who's Who" almanacs including "Who's Who of American Women," "Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare", "Who's Who among Human Service Professionals" and Who's Who in American Nursing." Margaret also received the New Mexico Nursing Excellence Award in 2005 "Legends in Nursing" Survivors include a daughter, Dana L. Petersen and her husband Tracy; three step-grandchildren, Heather Egenes and her husband Steve, Eric Petersen and Taylor Petersen; and two great-step grandchildren: Alexandria and Danielle Egenes all of Albuquerque, NM. Pallbearers will be Mike Walsh, Troy Yancey, Charles Shannon, Jim Thompson, Dr. David Miller and Gary Bauder.
