Obituary for MCCLUNG

LaRue Mary McClung, 72, a resident of Albuquerque since 1978, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2009 of natural causes. She is survived by her children, Mark Sheffey and Stephanie Fischer-Sheffey of Danville, CA; Sharahn McClung and Dr. Gilles Francfort, PH. D.of New York, NY; six grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. McClung was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Harold W. McClung, M.D. La Rue McClung was born in Duquesne, PA in 1936. She received her degree in nursing from McKeesport Hospital School of Nursing '56, and B.S. from Duquesne University '59. She started her career with the Visiting Nurse Service in New York City, and continued over the next five decades to work at Swedish Hospital School of Nursing and Metropolitan Medical Center in MN; Herrick Hospital and O'Connor Hospital-San Jose Hospital in CA; St. Joseph's Health Care and Memorial Hospital in NM. She was actively pursuing her certification in Case Management. Mrs. McClung was a passionate supporter of the arts, both performing and culinary. She taught at the Cooks of Crocus Hill Culinary School in St. Paul, MN. She was a member of the New Mexico Symphony Guild and held many positions there, including President from 1990-1991. Her interests included travel, culture, and history. A Private Service will be held by the family.
