MaryAnne Wanek, 63, born in Santa Fe, New Mexico on November 2, 1945 passed away on May 30, 2009 in Surprise, Arizona following a lengthy but courageous battle with diabetes. She was preceded in death by her father, Apolonio Moya and brother Patrick, an infant. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of over 30 years, Michael S. Wanek, her mother, Mabel Moya and her brother, George Moya of Cortez, Colorado. She is also survived by her children, Walter Roybal Jr. and wife Christine, Erik Roybal and companion Tammy Martin, Michelle Roybal and companion Orlando Archuleta, Lesley Lacy and husband Keith, Sherrye Lovato, Anna Brown, and Katie Orozco and husband Carlos. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren, Walter Roybal III, Nichole Edwards, Candice McCloud, Monica Roybal, Jessica Roybal, Kevin John Lacy, Brandi Herrera, Jacob Griego, Samantha Wanek and Carlos Orozco Jr. MaryAnne, a woman of great faith, spent the majority of her life in White Rock, NM raising her family and was a very active member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish. She had a beautiful smile, a cheerful attitude, and was always willing to help out those in need. Even during her illness she was positive and hopeful, as she was throughout all of the trials she faced in life. A Mass celebrating MaryAnne's life will be said on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. at the Shrine of St. Bernadette, 1800 Martha Street, NE in Albuquerque. Mass will be said by Fr. Tom Zotter, a long time and close friend to Michael and MaryAnne. Immediately following Mass, the Burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Albuquerque, followed by a reception in the parish hall at the Shrine of St. Bernadette in Albuquerque.
