Obituary for STILES

Richard Church Stiles, 90, passed away on April 25, 2009 after a short illness. He was the loving and devoted husband of May Hart Stiles, his wife of 68 years. A World War II veteran, Richard served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, where he directed the installation of radar equipment, and served in the Special Weapons Program. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1941, with a degree in electrical engineering. He had a long and distinguished career in electronic communications at General Telephone and Electric Company. He, May, their children, and grandchildren, spent many happy seasons, sailing on the east coast. He served as Commodore of the Boston Yacht Club in 1979 and 1980. He and May moved to Albuquerque in 1996. He is survived by May; three daughters, Barbara Johnstone, Nancylou Stiles, and Jody Stacy; and many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. A Family Service will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
