Obituary for DAVIES

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Friday May 22, 2009

Arnetta Lee Davies (nee Burgess) went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 after a mercifully brief battle with cancer. She was born in Sadieville, KY on February 23, 1924. Her husband of 50 years, James L. Davies and her son, Richard L. Davies preceded her in death. Arnetta is survived by her two daughters, LaMerlis Wolf (Benjamin) of Dallas, TX, Linda Strascina (Peter) of Albuquerque; five grandchildren, Benny Wolf (Michelle), Vincent Wolf (Yvonne), Phillip Wolf (Patience), all of Dallas, TX; Tony Vincent Strascina (Aspen) of New York City, and Francesca Garcia (Michael) of Albuquerque. Arnetta had eight great-grandchildren. Arnetta loved to play piano, guitar and sing, and loved old-time gospel and Country Western music. Her family moved to Albuquerque in 1959 from Cincinnati, OH and she resided for the past ten years at Sunrise Assisted Living in Albuquerque. She played piano daily for her friends, neighbors, and staff at Sunrise. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2009, 10:30 a.m., at French - Wyoming Chapel. Arnetta will be laid to rest joining her husband James at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. Although Arnetta loved flowers, especially red roses, it would have been her wish instead that contributions be made in her name to Presbyterian Health Care Foundation-Kaseman Hospice, PO Box 26666, Albuquerque NM 87125. The families deeply appreciates and thanks the staff at Kaseman Hospice and Sunrise Assisted Living for their enduring love and care for our beloved mother, Arnetta.
