The first eight years of their marriage was spent traveling around the world. On January 1, 1949, Carol was transferred to Sandia Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. As a family, they started visiting Elephant Butte in 1955. Their dream to retire in Elephant Butte became a reality in 1999. To help her daughter's fulfill some of their dreams, she drove them all over the United States so they could participate in their many activities. When she was finished driving her daughters, she took up horse showing and won many awards in the process. Carol will also inform you, that if it had not been for Peryl's ability to type and correct his many papers, which were required as he pursued his Masters, he probably would still be in college.
