Obituary for ELLIS

Lewis D. "Lew" Ellis, age 85, of Rio Rancho, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, April 25, 2009. After retiring from Sandia, Lew worked as a contractor with NASA, tracking satellites and the space shuttle missions, including Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, and Endeavor, among others. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho. Lew was a loving father and a devoted husband. He is survived by Tommie, his wife of 62 years; daughters, Bobbie Yoakum and husband George, Cheryl Lewis and husband Terry, and Tami Ellis; brother, Robert Benjamin "RB" Ellis; sisters Sarah Hegwood and Eugenia Anderson. Lew was preceded in death by son, Craig A. Ellis. A funeral service will be held at Chester T. French Mausoleum Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, Thursday, April 30, at 10:00 AM with Pastor Si Budagher officiating. Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Missions Fund at First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho, 3906 19th Ave SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
