Obituary for ALVAREZ

Carmen L. Alvarez, passed away peacefully April 22, 2009. Her last days were spent at home with her children, grandkids, nieces, nephews, friends, and cousins exactly as she wanted. Born in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Margarita Martinez C de Baca and Antonio Martinez, she was the youngest of four, granddaughter of New Mexico's second Governor Ezequiel C de Baca. As a young mom she lived in Havana, Cuba during the takeover by Fidel Castro. She spent over 20 years in San Antonio, Texas where she was an entrepreneur before moving her family to Albuquerque where she became an active member of the Democratic Party representing New Mexico as a delegate to the Democratic Convention in San Francisco in 1985. Survived by children Prime Time Publisher Maria Elena Alvarez Luk, Frank Molinar along with Jesse Molinar who lived with, and lovingly took care of her for the last years of her life; adopted granddaughters Micah Alvarez and Jessica Mestas; grandchildren Magdalena and Carmen Sharpe, Anthony, Ashley, Frank, Christina Nicole, Stefanie Marie, and Destiny Molinar, James and Jordon Eads; great-grandchildren; Isaiah and Luke Mestas, Leo and Laveya Sandoval. Preceded in death by siblings Armando Martinez, Consuelo C de Baca and Donald Martinez; and children Jeanette Pacheco and Armando Garduno. Rosary and Service is at Risen Savior Catholic Church, 7701 Wyoming Blvd NE, ABQ, NM 87109.
