Obituary for ORTEGA

Jose Ortega, 69, a resident of Bernalillo, went to meet the Lord on Saturday, April 25, 2009 after having the opportunity to say goodbye to his family. Jose grew up in Santa Fe; and relocated to Albuquerque to raise his children. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 34 years of service; and after being a privileged member of the United States Army. He was proud to be a Veteran. Jose was an active member of Church of the Incarnation. He enjoyed building and working on his adobe home in Bernalillo as well as being surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arturo and Josephita Ortega; brother, Arturo, Jr. and sister, Mary Trainor. Jose is survived by his son, Arthur and wife Yvonne; daughter, Monica Martinez; and his significant other, Corine Fox; grandchildren, Andy, Arthur (Arty), Stephanie, and Matthew Ortega, Favian and Melissa Sedillo, Michael and Marcus Martinez; and great-granddaughters, Shonel and Saniah Nelsen; sisters, Rose Ortega, Frances Jaramillo and husband Joe, Emily Griego and husband Jimmy, Patsy Ortega Chavez; many godchildren; nephews, and nieces. The Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, April 28, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln, Rio Rancho. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at 11:00 a.m., at the Church of the Incarnation, 2309 Monterrey Rd. NE, Rio Rancho, NM with Father Rick Zerwas as the celebrant. Interment will be in the National Cemetery in Santa Fe on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. with Military Honors being presented by the VFW Post 2951. Pallbearers will be Andy Ortega, Arty Ortega, Matthew Ortega, Michael Martinez, Marcus Martinez, and Favian Sedillo. Honorary pallbearer is Johnny Ortega.
