Obituary for HAYS

Gerry Hays, age 64, a resident of Albuquerque, N.M., passed away during the morning of April 25, 2009. He is survived by his wife Kathy; his sons Tad, Peter, Joe and Jack; his daughter-in-law Krystal; his grandchildren Trevor, Terran and Keira; his mother Lovilda; his sister Sharon; and his parents-in-law Sam and Vi. He worked at Sandia National Laboratories for his entire professional career. For the majority of his career he was a research scientist and research manager specializing in plasma physics and for the latter part of his career he was an ombudsman at-large for the laboratories. He loved the outdoors and was a member, volunteer and leader within the Boy Scouts of America for the state of New Mexico. He loved to travel with his wife and children on backpacking trips in the wilderness and on cruises around the world. He loved to read, to observe and to experiment, and to work with his hands. He was a devoted husband, father and friend. A Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at French Mortuary Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd NW, 897-0300.
