Martha Elizabeth Kucera was born on May 12, 1931 and went into the arms of her Lord and Savior after being gently loved and held by her husband, Gary on April 21, 2009. She is preceded in death by her mother Verna Bee Barker who passed in 1989, her father Howard S. Chandler who passed in 1938, and her brother Howard Chandler who passed in 1951. Leaving here to mourn her passing is her husband Gary Kucera of Rio Rancho, NM; beloved son and wife Byron and Ann Lawless of Rio Rancho, NM; grandson Ryan Lawless of Santa Fe, NM; sister Dolores Hudgens of Rio Rancho, NM; and brother Robert Rice and wife Susie of Branson, MO; and many nieces and nephews. Martha graduated from Deming High School and was a teacher there for 28 years. She received her Bachelors and Masters degree at Western New Mexico University in Sliver City, NM. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Riverside Funeral Home. A service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 27, 2009 at Celebration Baptist Church, 5620 Laredo, Rio Rancho, NM, with the burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the children's home in Portales, NM or the diabetes foundation.
