Obituary for POND

Tildon W. Pond, age 82, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2009. He was born on January 12, 1927 in Fort Worth, TX. Tildon graduated from Albuquerque High. After graduation, he enlisted with the US Navy. Tildon served as a radio man aboard the destroyer, USS Caldwell, in the Pacific from January 1945 until his discharge in June of 1946. After the war ended, he worked as a salesman for Graham Paper Company, of which he traveled extensively. Mr. Pond was an umpire for little league in the 60's and 70's. He was actively involved with several charities, including the Elks and the Shriners. He, also was a Mason. Mr. Pond enjoyed golfing, watching sports on TV, and fishing at Navajo Lake with his family. Tildon is preceded in death by his father, Frank T. Pond, and his mother, Sue Pond. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Alice Pond; his loving son, Frank Pond; loving daughter-in-law, Julie (Love) Pond. He was a loving husband and father. His absence will be deeply felt, but the wonderful memories of him will endure always. In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to the Shriners.
